Nick Goddard, a 7th grader at Graves County Middle School, is one of 30 local students accepted into a new learning opportunity at the Challenger Learning Center in Paducah. The “STEM Squad,” made possible by a grant awarded through NASA, is designed to allow students unique opportunities to gain experience in space-related themes connecting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts.
The group meets monthly for learning opportunities and research building up to a summer project. Those who complete the year-long program are extended an invitation to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama in 2023.
GCMS student Nick Goddard has found his independent research on American astronaut Alan Bean extremely interesting. Bean, also an artist, used actual moondust in his paintings.
Nick is excited and looking forward to his summer experience at Space Camp as the culminating event.
