Tara Fowler has been named the next principal of Sedalia Elementary.  The Sedalia Elementary School-Based Decision Making Council met Monday, May 3, 2022, to formally make the announcement.

Mrs. Fowler began her career in Georgia.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, all from Valdosta State University.  Tara has taught high school mathematics for 19 years, with the last 11 at Graves County High School.  She also serves GCHS as an instructional coach, supporting teachers in their practice.

I have always had a desire to serve people. Teaching allows me to serve students. However, leading allows me to serve students, teachers, staff, parents, and many others. I want to invest in as many lives as possible because so many have invested in me.  I am honored that Sedalia Elementary has given me this opportunity,” states Fowler.

She and her family moved to Kentucky after eight years of teaching in Georgia so that her husband could pastor his home church.

“I knew no one when I moved here, except for my in-laws.  Graves County has taken me in and invested in me for 11 years, and for that, I am so grateful. I remember a bulletin board from my high school years that read, "Choose a career you love, and you will never have to work."  This statement has proven to be true for my life. From the second I entered the classroom in my practicum, I knew that education was the right career path for me,” added Mrs. Fowler. “I look forward to investing in this school and seeing what God has planned for Sedalia Elementary.”

Superintendent Matthew Madding said, “Mrs. Fowler will be a great fit at Sedalia Elementary School.  She has a strong instructional mind, makes student-centered decisions, and has a very clear vision for the school.”

Elementary Instructional Supervisor Amanda Henson adds, "I look forward to working with Mrs. Fowler in her new role.  Her experience as a veteran teacher, as well as an instructional leader, will be an asset to the team.  She is focused on student learning and their future success."

Married to husband Wes Fowler, the couple has three children:  Brax (12 years old),  Bryley (8 years old), and JP (7 years old).  Along with spending time with her family and friends, Mrs. Fowler enjoys being outdoors and serving her church.
