Jarrod McMillin has been named the next principal of Fancy Farm Elementary. The Fancy Farm Elementary School-Based Decision Making Council met Monday, May 2, 2022, to make the announcement.
Mr. McMillin graduated from Graves County High School in 2004, then continued his undergraduate and graduate work at Murray State University. Before his Master’s degree in Education and Administration, his first degree was in Occupational Safety and Health. He worked as a health and safety specialist in Houston, Texas. He chose to change careers and enter education inspired to challenge, engage and motivate students. In 2009, he was hired as a math teacher at Graves County High School. Jarrod served as the math department chair and on the district instructional leadership while at GCHS. In 2020, he accepted his current position as the principal of Hickman County Elementary.
“I look forward to serving the students, the faculty and staff, and the community of Fancy Farm. Change can be unnerving, but I am confident that we will be successful together. I promise to work very hard to ensure students receive a quality education in a very safe and fun environment,” states Jarrod McMillin. “I will lead with love and with the goal of maintaining the excellence of this school.”
Mr. McMillin says it has been a pleasure to watch his past students develop into successful adults with families and careers of their own. He looks forward to returning to his ‘home’ district of Graves County, the one his children have remained enrolled as students. He is honored by the new opportunity and awesome responsibility, which officially begins July 1, 2022.
Superintendent Matthew Madding said, “I am pleased to have Mr. McMillin back in our district. Jarrod is a positive, student-centered leader who will build strong relationships within the school and community.”
Amanda Henson, Elementary Instructional Supervisor, adds, “We are excited to welcome Mr. McMillin to our elementary team of principals. His energy and enthusiasm are positive attributes that will serve the school well.”
Married to his high school sweetheart, Deidra Carlisle McMillin, the couple has three children: Steven (11 years old), Ivy (8 years old), and Oliver (5 years old). Along with spending time with his family, Mr. McMillin enjoys playing the guitar, hunting, serving as worship leader at his church, and coaching his daughter’s travel soccer team.
