Graves County Middle School’s Sources of Strength Peer Leaders are difference makers!  The group, which has made several significant contributions of service and support this year, delivered GCMS students and staff a day to remember.

The planning began after the Sources of Strength organization heard about the tornado and made a monetary donation with instructions that it be used in a special way for the GCMS staff and students. The organization’s mission is to positively impact lives through the power of connection, hope, help, and strength.

The SOS Peer Leaders designed a VIP-themed day for the school on Thursday, April 14, 2022.  The staff was led to a catered lunch by walking a red carpet, lined with students.  They were then served by the SOS Peer Leaders and seated in VIP style.  Door prize drawings were announced throughout the day by intercom adding to the excitement.  The event concluded with an entire school visit to the Kona Ice truck to enjoy the sunshine and cool treats.

When reflecting afterward, Jean Ann Miller, FRYSC Coordinator and an SOS staff leader commented, “It was a great day at Graves County Middle School.  We are so thankful for "Sources of Strength"  for making it all possible.  It gave our students a chance to show our teachers and staff how much they are all appreciated.  They make such a positive difference in our students' lives every day and work so hard.  It also gave us a chance to show the students just how special they are to all of us.  They all enjoyed the Kona Ice Truck, and the sun was shining!  We couldn't have asked for better weather!”
