On Sunday, February 28, 13 Graves County Orchestra students participated in the 2021 Austin Peay State University Honor Orchestra in Clarksville, TN.

The Graves County Schools Orchestra Program is under the direction of Dr. Laura Hill, who shared that students involved in the Honor Orchestra recorded Gratus from the silent film Ben Hur. Hill stated, “leading recording industry professionals from Nashville assisted in this unique project.” She added that the recording will be made available in the coming months.

This talented group of young musicians is made up of the following: Sarah Irvan, JT Handley, Michael Tyler, Emily Dunaway, Jamie LeMay, Jacob Puckett, Gracie Routen, Jenna Shupe, Alexa Raney, Abigail Lonsway, Charlize Klay, Maggi Davison, and Josi Erwin. Additionally, Gracie Routen received the distinction of 2nd chair cello, and Charlize Klay was named 1st chair bass.

Dr. Hill commended all of these hard-working and talented young people, adding they “go above and beyond expectations [and] are the future leaders of our program, school, and community. I'm so proud of them for taking a risk and sharing the GC story in another state!”

Well done, GCHS Orchestra! GSCD is proud of you! #GDTBAE
