Rotary Youth Leadership

Congratulations to our 2022 iRYLA attendees, Olivia Stratton and Ava Slack.  The Graves County High School students were honored to be invited to the 3-day event, which allowed them to develop their leadership skills through an immersive experience.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a leadership program coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe. Rotary describes the event as an opportunity for high school students to step up and stand out! Each year, thousands of young people participate in this program, and we thank the Mayfield Rotary Club for their annual sponsorship of our students to be among the group.

GCHS junior Ava Slack explains, “RYLA is a weekend event that teaches students all about improving their leadership and team building skills. RYLA is also a great opportunity to create new friendships and to help communities through fun community service.”

Both girls describe a service project called “Love the Hungry” as being their favorite moment of many.  They were able to work in teams to package thousands of meals to be shipped to various locations around the world, including Ukraine.

Junior Olivia Stratton is ready to use her knowledge gained, “I will take it back to GCHS where I can use it to help groups and people reach their best potential.”
