The Graves County Board of Education has approved funding for a new Rank Change program designed to support teacher growth while increasing retention across the district. The program, Foundations in Teaching and Learning, will be offered by the West Kentucky Education Cooperative (WKEC) through the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC) and in partnership with BloomBoard. It is being made available at no cost to all GCS educators who are eligible for Rank II or Rank I.
The Foundations in Teaching and Learning program is a flexible and accessible alternative to earning a traditional Master’s Degree. It uses micro-credentials to allow educators to learn and demonstrate mastery the way they know best: in their classrooms with their students. The program has been approved by the EPSB and is aligned to the 10 Kentucky Teacher Performance Standards.
“We’re committed to providing a high-quality education for our students and that means developing and retaining high-quality teachers,” said Matt Madding, Superintendent, Graves County Schools. “By offering this Rank Change program to our teachers at no cost, we hope to help them grow professionally while keeping them in the classroom and ensuring stability for our students.”
GCS will be leveraging federal ESSER funding to make the program available to all of its eligible educators. In exchange for the district paying enrollment fees, teachers who complete the program will commit to working within the district for the next four years. Educators who earn Rank Change through the program will be eligible for the associated increases in salary and retirement benefits.
