3rd Grade Reading

Wingo Elementary third grade teacher Jade Miller has created a special area for students in her classroom.  Ms. Miller states "I created this area so that the students could have a calm relaxing area to read. I wanted them to have a place where they could get lost in a book without getting distracted from anything going on in the room. It is also a clam area that kids will sometimes use when they are getting over stimulated or are anxious about something. It’s surrounded by my mini library, so when students are ready for their next reading adventure they don’t have to wait, they can dive right in." Ms. Miller also states that the area is used to teach students responsibility.  Students are in charge of keeping the area clean and tidy.  They organize the books, keep the tent straight and vacuum the floor when it is dirty.  They take pride in keeping the area looking good.  Pictured above Front: Caylee O’Connor, second row L-R Sophie Ramsey, Will Hobbs, Brycen Eubanks, Cayce Jo Jones, Drake McClain, Emma Oliver, (Tent) Anthony Readenour and Autumn Langston, Jason Wilson beside the tent.
