Graves County High School tennis teams celebrate completed 2017 season with award presentations

The Graves County High School 2017 tennis season wrapped up with Eagles and Lady Eagles receiving end-of-season awards. Both teams had successful campaigns as the Lady Eagles finished 13-3, while the Eagles finished 11-5. The players receiving awards include, from left, (front row) coach Chuck Whitnell, Madison Wiggins (Most Improved and Special Senior Recognition), Ellie Mitchell (100 Percent Award), Carson McKee (Most Improved), Laken Schultz (Talon Award), Gabbie Lamb (Best singles record-100 percent), Maddy Williams (Best Overall Record 82 percent), Allie Clark (Newcomer Award). (back row) Grant Jackson (Newcomer Award), Maggie Murphy (Newcomer Award), Ethan Murphy (Eagle Award), Grace Thomasson (Eagle Award), Brady Ellegood (Most Improved), Alejandro Hernando (Best Overall Record 71 percent), Isaac Carrico (100 Percent Award), Matthew Whitaker (Most Improved), Jaron Hale (Talon Award), Tucker George (Future Star), and coach Chris Cates.

Not pictured, but receiving awards were Drew Jackson (Best singles record- 84 percent), Raychel Mathis (Future Star), Sydney Gream (Future Star), and Mark Whitaker (Future Star). These players received Academic Awards for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher: Madison Wiggins, Ellie Mitchell, Carson McKee, Laken Schultz, Gabbie Lamb, Maddy Williams, Allie Clark, Grace Thomasson, Raychel Mathis, Sydney Gream, Grant Jackson, Drew Jackson, Ethan Murphy, Brady Ellegood, Isaac Carrico, Matthew Whitaker, Jaron Hale, Mark Whitaker, and Tucker George.
