Graves school district, middle school get two of six 2017 statewide grants from Ky. Council for Exceptional Children
“The Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children each year offers six mini-grants in the amount of $650 each, available to members throughout the state,” said Wingo Elementary School special education teacher Debbie Samples (pictured at right), who is involved in KCEC leadership. “This year, we had ten applicants. We chose six and two of those six are from the Graves County Schools. Selise Ridolfi (left), the district’s special education director, said, “Special education teacher consultant Miranda Reed wrote a grant proposing to purchase some reading materials accessible to teachers in our district.” Brittany McIntyre (center), a special education teacher at Graves County Middle School, said, “My proposal helps us acquire Kindle Fire tablets so that I can provide access to my special needs students to get applications they can use to improve their technology skills.” Samples concluded, “In the fall, we will ask them to tell how the grant money was used and the impact that it has had.”
