Four Graves County Schools choirs, three Murray State choirs harmonize to present The Superbowl of Sound!
To kick off this past Super Bowl Weekend, four Graves County Schools choirs and three Murray State University choirs blended their voices Friday evening at the Graves County Schools performing arts center, presenting The Superbowl of Sound! All groups but one at the free concert were composed of all male vocalists. Performers on stage wore casual attire, many donning football jerseys, in keeping with this weekend’s theme. Participating choirs included ten male singers from elementary school teacher Stephenie Wheeler’s Sedalia Singers, nine male vocalists from teacher Makenzie Kaufmann’s Graves County High School Concert Choir and eight from the GCHS Chamber Choir, 18 male singers from teacher Laynie Alba Mitchell’s Graves County Middle School Choir, 19 male vocalists from Professor Christopher Mitchell’s Murray State University Racer Men’s Chorus, and 14 singers from MSU’s EQ Blu, composed of both males and females. In addition to each group’s separate songs, the combined choirs also harmonized. Graves County Schools PAC director Casey Jones said, “Wow, this project was great! Not only was the music excellent, but singing with Murray State University students is bound to inspire our younger students to broaden their views of what they can accomplish in music, in college, and in life!”
